Yesterday we did the NYS cookie test! We got to decorate a cookie shaped like NYS and took it home to eat it! Yum!

Students tried out a new website in math called Zearn. This site aligns nicely with our math module lessons. We tried a center rotation today. After a whole group mini-lesson, students completed part of their Problem Set with me, created a math journal independently, and completed activities on the website. It was nice to have time for small group instruction. ~ Mrs. J
Students completed Module 1 today as they took their end module assessment. Assessments will be graded over the weekend and sent home with students, along with all their other graded work, next Friday.
After our 3 day weekend, students will begin Module 2 which focuses on Metric Measurement. ~ Mrs. J Students have been practicing their math fact fluency with our daily Ninja Multiplication! We begin by practicing skip counting while practicing our karate moves. Next, students pair up and practice their multiplication with a partner. Then they head back to their seat and take out their Ninja folder in preparation for a multiplication mad minute. Lastly, they pass their folders to a peer to check. If they pass, they level up, trade papers with me, and collect belts for their chain. Once all students achieve Black Belt status for their multiplication facts we will have a Black Belt celebration!
Keep practicing those math facts at home!!! ~ Mrs. J |
