This week, students have been reviewing previously learned concepts in math with fun games, movement based activities, and centers. Here is a peek at what our daily math routine has been like this week: Math MovementStudents solve a math problem on their white board. When the next slide is revealed they check their work. The third slide reveals an exercise for them to do in between each problem. Problem SolvingStudents are then presented with a challenging, multi-step word problem. Students try the problem first individually, then with their partners. Students are selected to share their thinking under the document camera and the whole class discusses it's solution. We practice a few of these word problems each day. Around THe RoomProblems are hidden around the classroom and students go on a scavenger hunt to find and solve them. This provides some additional independent practice of the day's review topic before we move on to the Exit Ticket. Exit TIcket, Review Games, & Small Group InstructionAt the end of our review block, students complete an Exit Ticket and then grab a file folder review game of their choice. I check each Exit Ticket and call students to the table for extra help and support -or- to extend today's work with an even more challenging problem.
